The new director of RIII was appointed

The Ministry of Culture has appointed a new director of the Russian Institute of Art History (RIII). They became Elena Tretyakova, who previously held the position of vice-rector of the St. Petersburg Academy of Theater Arts.

On Tuesday, October 7, to Tretyakov was introduced to RIII employees, Interfax reports. Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Education of the Ministry of Culture Svyatoslav Golubenko said that the agreement with the former director Olga Koch was terminated on October 6.

According to Golubenko, despite all the difficulties, Riii will exist in a building on Isaacievskaya Square, and there will be no more reductions at the institute. Until the end of October, the ministry will present the concept of the development of RIII, which was developed by Tretyakov and approved by the competition commission of the Public Council of the Ministry of Culture.

The vice-rector of the St. Petersburg Institute of Culture and Arts Olga Koch was appointed director of RIII in June 2013 after the dismissal of the former director, Tatyana Klyavina. The arrival of the new leader was accompanied by collective letters of employees in the Ministry of Culture with a request to cancel the order to appoint it. Having become the director, Koch fired many employees of the institute. Subsequently, the decisions of the court of first instance were recognized as illegal.

In September 2014, the Ministry of Culture created a commission, which was instructed to hold a competition for the position of director. Based on the results of the consideration of several concepts, the commission approved the concept of candidate of art history Tretyakova.
