Poland urged to tighten sanctions against Russia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Grzegozh Kotyna, said that Warsaw intends to demand tightening sanctions against Russia if Moscow does not change its policy against Ukraine. According to Lenta.ru, he said this in an interview with the Polish television channel Polsat News.

"Yes, if Russia does not change its policy, then these sanctions will be strengthened and will be even more sensitive in Russia," Kotyna said. According to him, the position of Warsaw is shared by the European Union, Australia, the USA and Canada. “The Free World says“ no ”to such a policy,” he emphasized.

At the same time, the Foreign Minister noted that the main task at the moment is to stop bloodshed in the southeast of Ukraine. “Today it is necessary that the truce and ceasefire be observed. Then diplomacy and real policy may intervene,” Kotna said.

Grzegozh Kotyna was appointed head of the Poland Foreign Ministry on September 19 this year - his predecessor Radoslav Sikorsky became the speaker of the country's parliament. The formation of a new cabinet was required after the resignation of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who was appointed chairman of the European Council and on December 1 should take office.

Western countries began to impose anti -Russian sanctions since March, the last package was introduced on September 12. The restrictions affected Russian energy and defense sectors, as well as a number of officials and businessmen close to the Kremlin. In response, Russia limited the import of a number of agricultural goods from countries that imposed sanctions against it: the USA, EU, Canada, Australia and Norway. Moscow also has a black list of Europeans who are prohibited from entering the territory of Russia.
