On October 8, a civil activist and publicist Pavel Shekhtman was detained in Moscow. As Kasparov.ru reported, Shekhtman was detained for publications on social networks.
After the detention, Shekhtman was in the Department of Internal Affairs in the Western Administrative District. When asked who provides such information, the duty officer replied that it was necessary to contact either those bodies that conducted the detention, or with a lawyer. According to the duty officer, they do not have information about who is appointed lawyer on duty.
Later, information appeared that the issue of the measure of suppression for Pavel Shekhtman would consider the Kuntsevsky court on the same day. This was announced by Farit Murtazin, a lawyer of the Interregional Association of Human Rights Office of Agora.

The lawyer Ekaterina Goryainova spoke in court from the defense of Shekhtman. The Investigative Committee petitioned for the election of a preventive measure under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (excitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) and arrest for 1 month 23 days.
