Pavel Shekhtman is charged with the first part of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, committed publicly or using the media or on the Internet), the maximum punishment for which is four years in prison. This is reported by eyewitnesses from the Kuntsevsky court, where the hearing on the preventive measure is being held.
The detention of Shekhtman became known on the morning of October 8. The activist was taken to the Kuntsevskoye temporary detention center and provided with a public lawyer. It was reported that the detention was related to Shekhtaman's publications on social networks.
