Mikhail Gorbachev is 83 years old. He headed the USSR from 1985 to 1991 - first as the Secretary General of the CPSU Central Committee, and then as the first and last president of the Soviet Union. In 1990, Gorbachev became a laureate of the Nobel Prize of the World.

According to media reports, the former Soviet leader suffered from severe diabetes for many years and underwent several operations in recent years. In 2011, he underwent a two -hour spine in one of the clinics of Munich. After that, he “felt good”, then German doctors reported. In June 2013, Gorbachev was hospitalized in the Central Clinical Hospital. In October 2013, the ex-President underwent a scheduled examination in a German clinic, but was quickly discharged from there.
