European leaders do not plan meetings with Putin at a summit in Milan

The leaders of the European Union do not plan official meetings with Vladimir Putin at the 10th ASS summit (Asia -Europe forum) in Milan. This was reported by UNIAN with reference to the official representative of the European Commission PIA Renkilda Hansen.

"The presence of President Putin in Milan was stated, but we do not have any bilateral meetings with him," the official said. “We cannot exclude such an opportunity in terms of an informal meeting,” she also remarked, “but, as far as I know, such a meeting is not planned.”

Hansen also said that the main topic of discussion in Milan will be the situation in Ukraine.

The Aem Summit will take place on October 16-17. About 50 leaders of Europe and Asia will take part in it.

The day before, Putin’s assistant Yuri Ushakov claimed that his boss plans to meet in Milan with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and France President Francois Hollande. The official also stated that at these meetings "which the Ukrainian theme will be key."
