A rally against the illegal merger of Moscow schools, which was held on Sunday on Suvorovskaya Square, gathered about 1,400 participants. This was reported on the page of the Trade Union of the School "Intellectual" on Facebook. 1016 people signed a resolution of a protest. The event was without incident.

The Moscow authorities intend to unite a boarding school for gifted children "Intellectual" with neighboring gymnasium No. 1588. According to Newsru.com, the order of the confluence of the mergers on September 26 was signed by the head of the Department of Education of the city of Moscow Isaac Kalina. Representatives of the boarding school claim that this was done without the consent of the managing council, the labor collective and the parent community.

Since autumn, the "intellectual" has sharply reduced funding - from 300 thousand to 63 thousand rubles per student per year. If the boarding school is combined with the neighboring gymnasium No. 1588, financing will be raised to the general level - 112 thousand rubles per student per year

Earlier, school teachers conducted several pickets against illegal merger. The students of the Intellectual wrote an open letter addressed to President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and State Duma deputies.

“The merger for our school is unacceptable, since it will inevitably follow the decrease in the quality of education - circles, special courses, advanced groups in many subjects will disappear. The“ intellectual ”will cease to be the school that we have acted, which we know and loved. An individual approach will be lost, and this is one of the basic principles of teaching in our school,” the organizers of the protest rally said.
