Savchenko’s defense asks her to recognize her as a prisoner of conscience

The defense of the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko intends to turn to Amnesty International and the UN Committee on Human Rights call her the status of a prisoner of conscience. This was reported by her lawyer Mark Feigin.

“In connection with the aggravation of the situation around the case, Savchenko, the defense decided to force the issue of obtaining the international status of a prisoner of conscience. We prepared an appeal to Amnesty International with an appeal to assign the status of a prisoner of conscience to hope. We will also appeal to the UN Committee on supporting the status of hope as a political prisoner. They have their own list, ”writes Feigin.

On October 10, Feigin said that the Memorial human rights center assigned Savchenko the status of the political prisoner.

On October 11, another pilot’s lawyer Nikolai Polozov said that he received from the Investigative Committee to refuse to introduce materials collected by the defense in Ukraine to Savchenko. These are notarized protocols of surveys of witnesses of battle in the area of ​​the village of Metalist. In the TFR, a refusal was motivated by the fact that, according to Chapter 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, evidence in the territory of a foreign state is collected at the request of the Russian side by the "competent authority or official of a foreign state." Information that the member of the Moscow Interregional College of Lawyers Ilya Novikov has the right to carry out advocacy in Ukraine is not presented in the TFR.

Meanwhile, Chapter 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure refers to the requests that "court, prosecutor, investigator, head of the investigative body, interrogator". Clause 3 of Article 86 of the Code of Criminal Procedure states: "The defender has the right to collect evidence by ... survey of persons with their consent." No territorial restrictions are given there.

“We will appeal every illegal refusal of the UK in the courts, including in international instances. Savchenko was transferred from the pre-trial detention center-3 in Voronezh to Moscow for examination in the center named after Serbian. On September 25, it became known that the pilot is located in the Moscow SIZO "Pechatniki" .

During the stage, Savchenko caught a cold. On September 26, because of this, she was not delivered to the Basmanny District Court of Moscow. Judge Arthur Karpov granted the defense petition and postponed the meeting on Savchenko’s complaint about the appointment of a stationary psychiatric examination on October 13. Lawyers announced the desire of the client to personally attend the complaint.

Earlier, Savchenko made a written statement , in which she emphasized the illegality of the appointed examination and announced the refusal to communicate with doctors during the examination.
