Konstantin Jankauskas' house arrest extended until December 10

The house arrest of Konstantin Yankauskas, deputy of the Zyuzino municipal district, accused of fraud in connection with the financing of the election campaign of Alexei Navalny, has been extended until December 10. This decision was made by the Presnensky District Court. The prosecution, demanding that Jankauskas be left under house arrest, argued that he “has extensive connections in state structures through which he can put pressure on the investigation and threaten witnesses” (despite the fact that the witnesses in the case are unknown). The defense called for Jankauskas to be released on bail (about 20 people agreed to bail for the accused, including many deputies of municipal districts, as well as Duma deputy Dmitry Gudkov), in the event of an extension of house arrest, to allow Jankauskas to perform the duties of a municipal deputy: to receive residents, visit meetings of deputies and meetings with the prefect, send correspondence. The court upheld all existing restrictions.

Currently, Navalny's associates Nikolai Lyaskin, who is under house arrest, and Vladimir Ashurkov, who left the country and asked for political asylum in the UK, are also accused in the same case.
