"The requirements for the US Army will become more and more diverse and complex. The threat from terrorists and rebels will exist for us for a long time, but we must also deal with revisionist Russia, with its modern and combat -ready army on the threshold of NATO," Heigel said.

The US Army ensures US security, he emphasized. “This is also manifested in West Africa,” where American soldiers are trying to stop the spread of Ebola virus, and in Poland and the Baltic countries, where they strengthen NATO forces in the face of Russia's aggression, and in Iraq, where they resist the terrorists of the Islamic state, ”Hage said.

The head of the Pentagon specified that American soldiers serve at 150 points around the world. So, in the area of ​​responsibility of the Pacific command of the US Armed Forces, 80,000 soldiers serve, in the central command zone - 40,000, another 28,000 in Europe and thousands in Africa and South America.

The corresponding budget is required to maintain such an army. According to Hageel, if the congress does not support the increase in defense costs, in the next five years a deficit of $ 70 billion is formed in the Pentagon budget.
