On Sunday, October 19, the artist Peter Pavlensky held the “Branch” campaign - cut off the earlobe on the fence of the building of the Serbian Judicial Psychiatry Institute in Moscow. The action is directed against the use of psychiatry for political purposes.

The artist’s statement was published on her Facebook by journalist Oksana Shalygin.

The statement, in particular, says: “The knife separates the earlobe from the body. The concrete wall of psychiatry separates the society of rational from crazy patients. Returning the use of psychiatry for political purposes - the police apparatus regains the power to determine the threshold between mind and madness. ”

Arriving at the scene, the police took him off the roof of the building, after which he was taken to the Botkin hospital.

In recent years, Petra Pavlensky was sent three times to a psychiatric examination after his radical actions and each time recognized as sane - in July 2012 he went out with his mouth sewn to the Kazan Cathedral in protest against the persecution of the Pussy Riot group, in May 2013 he wrapped himself with barbed wire before the legislative assembly of St. Petersburg, protesting against the repressive policy The authorities, in November 2013, the artist nailed his genitals with a nail to the paving stones on Red Square - he protested against "apathy, political indifference and fatalism of modern Russian society."

In March 2014, Pavlensky was interrogated in connection with his participation in the Freedom group campaign on February 23 on a little-and-adulterous bridge in St. Petersburg, when several car tires were burned. An administrative case was instituted against the artist under the article “Minor Hooliganism”, but the court soon closed it. A month later, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case in terms of the second part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism), after which searches were conducted from the artist and other participants in the action and personal belongings were seized.

On October 17, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg refused the investigation to send the artist Peter to the next psychiatric examination, indicating that there is no reason for this. In August, the same court also refused to conduct a similar examination, the Russian Planet reports.
