Google has invested in augmented reality Magic Leap

Google has invested $ 542 million in Magic Leap, a startup developing "innovative methods of interaction between a computer and a person." It is reported by Business Insider.

Magic Leap does not disclose the details of the projects that works on. However, it is known that the company is developing technologies for creating the so -called augmented reality (in the Magic Leap itself, they prefer the term “kinematographic reality”). Instead of creating a completely separate world of virtual reality, as Oculus Rift does, Magic Leap creates “three -dimensional light sculptures” using its own equipment and software.

The founder and CEO of Magic Leap Rony ABOVITZ calls the company's technologies “completely change how a person interacts with computers”.

It is known that Magic Leap is working closely with Weta Workshop, a company that worked on special effects in the films “Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings”. The founder of WETA, Richard Taylor is a member of the board of directors of Magic Leap. Earlier, companies worked together on the Hour Blue application, which allows users to interact with an animated image that appeared after the smartphone camera was brought a special card.

The company patented several new technologies at once, including a special glove for interacting with a computer, a special high -resolution display, a three -dimensional display and special glasses.
