On October 17, Bogatenkova was detained in Budyonnovsk after a search of the office of the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers. On the evening of October 18, she was transferred to the Pyatigorsk pre-trial detention center "White Swan", where she was not accepted for health reasons. The human rights activist spent two nights in a detention center at the police station in Budyonnovsk, after which on October 19 she was released on bail.
