Comment on Quora will form the basis of a science fiction series about the second American Civil War

A fantastic television series about the civil war between all 50 states will be filmed in the United States, based on a comment from one of the users of the question and answer site Quora. magazine reports this Variety .

Retired US Navy sergeant Jon Davis has sold the film rights to his own commentary, published on Quora in 2012, to Box Studios.

The amount of the transaction between the user and the studio is not disclosed. Producer Josh Kline, who will develop the project, said that the right to turn the message from the Internet into a series "wasn't free, but it wasn't too expensive."

Sergeant Davis's post was posted by him in a discussion on alternative versions of history and hypothetical wars and military battles. The comment appeared in 2012 and, thanks to its thoroughness, realism and abundance of details, collected several thousand likes on the site. Later, the text was reprinted by several online publications.

In the commentary, Davis tried to suggest how the conflict between the American states could develop if each of them decided to secede from the country and declare war on its neighbors. The text of more than 38 thousand characters in total covers almost eight years of historical events, which the author himself calls the “Second Civil War” or “Wars of Reunification.”

Without going into detail about how or why the United States fell apart, John Davis begins by describing the early days of the confrontation, highlighting several key warring parties—California, Texas, and New York.

The sergeant calls the first period of the conflict a period of mass internal migration. By introducing discriminatory laws, newly independent states provoke people to move to the areas where they come from.

Similar processes are taking place in the army. Military personnel, unwilling to submit to the new authorities of the region in which they are stationed, move home to serve their home state.

Almost two months later, the largest of the states are showing military aggression for the first time, trying to take advantage of the general chaos in the once united country and seize strategic objects in neighboring territories.

Having formed several large conglomerates, the states begin to compete with each other as associations. California is bombing Seattle, Virginia is destroying the infrastructure of its northern neighbors, trying to undermine their military potential, while Texas is concentrating on capturing the central part of North America.

The development of the conflict ultimately leads to the use of nuclear weapons by one of the parties, as a result of which Washington is almost completely destroyed. The former United States is divided into two communities with California and Texas at the head.

Subsequently, several more nuclear explosions occur on the continent. After nearly eight years of confrontation, the broken country is a cluster of disparate cities trying to cope with the consequences of a devastating war. Government representatives from different regions gather for the first time in New York to sign a peace agreement and begin rebuilding America.
