A new advertisement for the IKEA hypermarket chain was filmed as an allusion to the film “The Shining” by Stanley Kubrick. drew attention to the video The British Metro .
The main character of the video, made specifically for the Singapore branch of IKEA, is a little boy, Danny, on a tricycle, who rides around the empty, dimly lit premises of the hypermarket until he meets the ominous “twins” in blue dresses.
Unlike the horror film The Shining, to which the scene refers , in the promotional video the meeting ends with a happy ending, and the “twins” turn out to be the boy’s parents. The video ends with the announcement that IKEA Singapore has extended its opening hours until late in the evening.
In a comment on the YouTube video, a representative from IKEA Singapore assured viewers that everything that happened in it was fiction, visitors did not notice anything strange, and no skeletons were found in the closets.
