Manufacturers demand that the Internet platform delete ads on the sale of counterfeit

The FAS is going to discuss with participants in the electronic trading market the mechanisms of protecting rights to trademarks in Runet, said Nikolai Kartashov, head of the advertising control department and unfair competition. One of the possible regulation options may be the introduction of a program similar to Vero (Verified Rights Owner), which works by the American Internet auction EBAY.

Thanks to Vero, the copyright holder can appeal to Ebay with a complaint about a violation of his rights committed in placing information about the product, and the site immediately removes the lot, the Kommersant explains. As the Executive Director of the Association of Internet Training Companies Vitaly Zhigulin told him, in Russia today this is a long process: the sites first request documents, study them, as a result, the goods are removed "in isolated cases". Manufacturers want the procedure to be fast, as in the case of ebay, and the goods are blocked at the first handling.

The press secretary of the company "Yandex.Market" Asya Melkumova believes that any claim must be confirmed by evidence of the violation so as not to infringe on the rights of stores.

Wikimart general director Maxim Faldin supports the FAS initiative. According to him, the company blocks sellers of fake goods and intends to continue to do this in the future. Google removes the advertisement of counterfeit goods on complaints, says her representative Alla Zabrovskaya.

Building retailers have already made claims to the aggregators, in particular, accusing Yandex of promoting goods imported into the country without the consent of copyright holders.

At the same time, in principle, to solve the problem of parallel imports , that is, goods imported without the direct permission of the copyright holder, in the future should the FAS initiative, previously supported by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov: last year he stated that by 2020 such imports would be gradually legalized.
