12 years ago, terrorists captured more than 900 hostages in the theater center on Dubrovka in Moscow during the musical Nord-Ost . Three days later, on October 26, the authorities, interrupting negotiations, organized a storm with the use of gas, the composition of which is still classified. All terrorists were destroyed, and the rescue operation turned into the death of 130 hostages.

On Sunday, the theater center on Dubrovka will take place in the memory of the dead.

In December 2011, the European Court of Human Rights, having examined the collective complaint of the victims as a result of the Dubrovka attack, recognized that the Russian authorities violated the right to life and a fair trial. In addition to the appointment of monetary compensations, Strasbourg ordered Russia to objectively investigate the circumstances of the operation to release hostages, during which people were killed. However, the Russian Investigative Committee refused to institute criminal proceedings against officials. The regional public organization for the promotion of the protection of victims from terrorist acts "Nord-Ost" continues to seek the initiation of the case. Former hostages and relatives of those who died during the assault are convinced that the responsibility for numerous victims lies not only on terrorists, but also on the Russian authorities.
