VKontakte prepares an application for smartphones that will allow users to shoot photos, process them using filters and uploading them to a social network, the Izvestia newspaper writes.
According to the sources of the publication, the new application will first be released only for Android devices, since the company has not yet found a developer for iOS. The exact terms of the appearance of the application in the public domain are not yet called. At the same time, the press secretary of the social network Georgy Lobushkin refused to give an official commentary about the development of a new photo application.
It is noted that the photo application of the social network will resemble Instagram. So, users will be able to apply various filters on pictures and process them using the photo editor already created by the social network.
Oleg Illarionov, senior developer of VKontakte, said that the new service will be similar to the Facebook Camera photo application, announced back in 2012. Subsequently, Facebook purchased the Instagram service and deleted the Facebook Camera from the AppStore store.
According to TJournal , the first application for photographs for the first time became known in mid -August to launch the VKontakte plans. Then Illarionov himself stated this, speaking at the Live Event 2014 event, held in St. Petersburg.
Illarionov said that in connection with the growth of the number of mobile users of the VKontakte social network, it plans to release a number of independent applications for music, photographs and correspondence. The programmer did not then disclose specific details and the estimated time of future applications.
