Free SSL for any site from Cloudflare

Cloudflare has announced the release of Universal SSL ™ . Now SSL certificates will be supported for each CloudFlare client, including 2,000,000 sites that have subscribed to the free version of the service.

Cloudflare is one of the content delivery networks (CDN) , popular due to the availability of a free tariff plan. Using this platform, access to your site will be made using a global distributed network, which will increase the safety of your site and protect you from various undesirable attacks.

The new Cloudflare option is called Universal SSL ™. It involves the issuance of a SSL certificate acting both for the root domain and for all first -level subdomains. The SSL protocol allows the client to communicate with the server on the network, preventing interception or falsification. Certificates are issued by Globalsign and Comodo .

In addition to the scheme of the site without encryption, three new options are now offered for the entire length of the request.

Work without encryption does not require any changes on the server side, while traffic is transmitted between proxy servers and your resource in open form.

The Full SSL option allows the use of any self -signed certificate, which is not much more reliable than the first scheme and protects traffic only from passive listening. Therefore, the third option is called as the recommended option, requiring the server of the current certificate.
