The head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, said that the company would sue the Kommersant newspaper. The reason for the lawsuit is the publication of counter sanctions against the West, which Rosneft allegedly proposed to introduce. Earlier, the company officially denied the accuracy of this information.

On October 29, Kommersant reported that Rosneft had sent proposals to the Kremlin on state support for the real sector of the economy and the introduction of counter sanctions against the US and the EU. In particular, the company allegedly offered to allow the seizure of property of Western countries on the territory of the Russian Federation as an interim measure for unfulfilled contracts, as well as to actually expropriate the equipment of Western service and oil and gas companies.
The publication of Kommersant, in addition to Rosneft, was denied by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the company did not submit any proposals for counter-sanctions to the Kremlin.
At the same time, presidential aide Andrei Belousov said that the Kremlin is studying Rosneft's proposals. At the same time, Belousov called them too radical.
Kommersant wrote that the oil company's proposals were addressed to Vladimir Putin, then got to Andrei Belousov and were transferred to the relevant ministries.
In August 2014, Igor Sechin won a lawsuit against Forbes magazine, which estimated his income at $50 million, and Vedomosti, which wrote that he influences Russian politics.
