In the DPR, an Internet voting in the parliamentary elections was launched

The CEC of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic opened a preliminary Internet voting for the inhabitants of Donetsk, located outside the region. This is stated on the official website of the Government of the Republic.
The Internet voting in the elections of deputies of the People’s Council and the head of the republic will begin on October 29 and will last until October 31.
To take part in the vote, voters will need to go through the verification procedure on the CEC website and attach a scan of an identity document. After that, the voter will receive a ballot with a unique number and will be able to vote online.
The elections of deputies of the People’s Council and the head of the self -proclaimed DPR are scheduled for November 2, 2014. As a result of voting, the parliament of the republic will be formed for the next four years, which will include 100 deputies.
The Central Election Commission registered two public associations representing the republican lists of candidates for deputies - “Donetsk Republic” and “Free Donbass”. According to the results of the parliamentary elections, parties will be held, managed to gain more than 5% of the vote. The Prime Minister of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko, deputy of the Supreme Council of the DPR Yuri Sivoconenko and deputy chairman of the parliament of Novorossia Alexander Kofman are running for the post of head of the republic. For admission to participation in the elections, candidates and associations needed to collect 1000 signatures.

Earlier, the authorities of Ukraine, in accordance with the conditions of the truce, provided the DPR and LPR with a special status for a period of three years, while appointing local elections for December 7. However, the self -proclaimed republics said that they would not obey this law and decide when to hold elections.

Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics were formed in the spring of 2014 after many residents of Donbass refused to obey the new authorities of Ukraine. Kyiv, in turn, began a power operation in order to restore control of the region.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, said that the Russian Federation is ready to recognize the elections in the DPR and the LPR. In his opinion, this does not contradict Minsk agreements. In turn, the head of the EU representative office in Russia, Vigadas Ushatsk, warned that the recognition of the coming elections in the self -proclaimed republics on November 2 will not only not lead to a revision of the EU sanctions, but may entail new measures against Moscow.

“This will not contribute to the interest that we have in the EU to reconsider the sanctions, and I am afraid that this may entail the following negative consequences that we would like to avoid,” said Ushaskas.
