The monument was opened in January 2013.

The press service reports that the monument is demolished in accordance with the Law on Propaganda of Non-traditional sexual relations. On October 30, Tim Cook, who headed Apple in 2011 after Jobs’s resignation, said in his replica on the Businessweek website that he was a homosexual and is proud of it. Why, in connection with Demarsh Cook, a monument was dismantled to his predecessor, who died three years before, is not specified.

An additional motive for demolition by the corporation called the statements of Edward Snowden, who stated that Apple transfers the data of its users to American intelligence services. According to Dolgopolov, his corporation believed that Apple owes her success to Jobs's genius. Meanwhile, later on Monday, the head of the ITMO University Department for Public Relations, Kirill Alexandrov, told Gazeta.ru that the monument was removed only temporarily - for repair. In particular, he explained, the touchscreen exfoliated on the iPhone. “There is an official letter from ZEFS that they were taking it for repairs. The letter was sent before Tim Cook,” Aleksandrov assured.
