
The United States considers the elections held on Sunday in the self -proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk "People’s Republics". According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the representative of the White House Mark Stroch.
"The holding of these elections is contrary to the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, as well as the Minsk Protocol of September 5. The United States does not recognize any results announced by the results of these so -called elections, and we urge all members of the international community to do the same," Stroh said. According to him, the only legal local elections in eastern Ukraine will be held on December 7.
The European Union holds a similar position. Earlier, the representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini called the past elections illegitimate. In her opinion, they became a "new obstacle to the world in Ukraine."

Voting in the self -proclaimed "republics" was held on Sunday. The winners in the elections were announced by the current leaders of the Republics Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky. In the elections to the "parliaments" of the DPR and LPR, the movements they headed also confidently won.
The fact that holding its own elections by the self -proclaimed "DPR" and "LPR" does not comply with the Minsk protocol, the European Council said. It is emphasized that for this reason they will not be recognized by the EU countries. A similar statement was made by French President Francois Hollande. The Secretary General of the UN Pan Gi Moon also described the elections in the "LPR" and "DPR" as "undermining agreements" signed in Minsk.
The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal case in connection with the election in the self -proclaimed "Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics."
"On November 2, representatives of these terrorist organizations hold illegal elections in the DPR and LPR in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in certain territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, contrary to the authorities of the authorities established by the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine," the department said on the Facebook page.
It is noted that criminal proceedings were opened under part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Actions aimed at a violent change or overthrow of the constitutional system or the seizure of state power").
