Polish Foreign Minister criticized Gorbachev for the call to recognize Crimea by Russian

The call of Mikhail Gorbachev to recognize the occupied Crimea by the Russian territory is "a clumsy attempt to get into the current Russian policy of a person who has nothing to do with this policy." According to UNIAN with reference to the Polish news agency RAR, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Grzegozh Kotyna.

He also called not to attach great importance to this commentary to Gorbachev. "I am convinced that few in the world and Europe share this point of view," Kotyna said to reporters.

The ex-head of the Polish government and the former President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, also called not to give great weight to Gorbachev. "Most Europeans believe that the annexation of Crimea was a violation of basic international rights," he said. Buzek emphasized that the most important in this situation is the official position of the European Union, the USA, the governments of states and international institutions. "Without a doubt, Russia muffled over international law and a system of values, on the basis of which European integration and the UN are being built," he said.

In defense of Vladimir Putin’s policy against Ukraine, Gorbachev spoke in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. He also stated that the world should come to terms with the fact that Crimea has become part of Russia.
