Igor Plotnitsky was inaugurated in the LPR

Igor Plotnitsky, elected head of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic, took office. At the inauguration ceremony, he took an oath on the Bible and on the Constitution of the LPR.

In his speech, Igor Plotnitsky noted that the inhabitants of the LPR "have already achieved a lot, got rid of the oligarchs." He promised to fulfill his duties "with honor" and "to establish good neighborly relations with Ukraine."

• Elections in the LPR were held on November 2. On the same day, elections were also held in the territory controlled by the pro-Russian separatists in the Donetsk region, which they call the Donetsk People's Republic. Alexander Zakharchenko won there. His inauguration ceremony took place on 4 November.
• Russia recognized the elections in the LNR and DNR. Ukraine does not recognize them. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has threatened to repeal his law on the special status of these territories.
