Ufa requires prohibiting Cannibal Corpse texts

The prosecutor's office of the Oktyabrsky district of Ufa sent a statement to the court with a request to ban the texts of the songs of the American metal group Cannibal Corpse.

“The Ufa residents turned to the department demanding to protect children from information causing harm to their development. At the request of the city residents, a check was carried out, ”the press service of the prosecutor's office of Bashkiria told TASS .

“It has been established that on the Internet in the free access there are texts of songs from the repertoire of the Cannibal Corpse group and their translations, which contain descriptions of scenes of cruelty, physical and mental violence in relation to people and animals, murders, suicide with the application of illustrations,” the press service informs.

The prosecutor’s office is convinced that this harms the health and development of minors. As a result of the audit, the district prosecutor filed a lawsuit with a statement in which he demanded to recognize the translations of songs and illustrations for them with information prohibited for distribution in the Russian Federation.

A month ago, the Cannibal Corpse concert was torn off in Ufa - the club where he was supposed to pass was closed for technical reasons. Earlier, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and cultural figures opposed the concert. According to the Bashkir writer Kamil Ziganshin, the texts of the group “Disordered by the occult ideas of communication with spiritual sources of evil”.
