I can’t say that they were friends directly, but they were not strangers. Since April 2011, when they met at the Khodorkovsky press center on the "Territory of Glasiness". And in the evening we sat in my room, chatted about everything in the world, and terribly wanted to do something good for him, because now I had a cool and did not eat, a parasite, nothing.

The leadership of the festival immediately fell in love with him and invited him to all further festivals. And his hard: I have to show something new every time, while there is no new one, I can’t ... Now the “sawmill” has been closed. Devotchenko died ...
And the performance in Moscow, with a biting hall, with some incredible Joseph Brodsky in his performance ... I also remember a package of peaches, which we sent him for the curtains ... somehow infrequently called up, but there was a sense of amazing friendly warmth.

As for his actions as a citizen, it is never such a shameful citizen. He did what he considered correct, without pathos and very calmly. A kind of hygiene of the soul. He did not regard his actions as a feat, did not call anyone for him. Or not, called, because

Substituting, you have in the dry rest: Alexey Devotchenko really did not like these official sources. And I didn’t like the alive. Will they do everything to find out the causes of his death? Now they are trying to tie his death to his alleged vices. That you, they say, is suicide under the influence of pills and alcohol.

You know, I don't believe. Because, firstly, I have a lot of reasons not to believe these sources. Their ostentatious zeal in such situations looks like mockery over the ashes. And there were not one or two situations of such situations.

And one more point. They, these official sources, with their farm bills, with their law enforcement officers violating the law, with their flashing lights and auto -zats, with their damn propaganda, brought up such a society in which nothing is worth killing a person for earring in his ear. It seems just the attack of some unknown people with unexplored criminal
intentions ... no one is to blame, they did not find anyone ... I do not believe. The main political theme of the last time within the country is to incite the growth. Moreover, I will say, the level set by the authorities is such that they break into hysteria and supporting this power, and opponents of it. And the action that cost Alexei Devotchenko, from my point of view, was directed precisely by the creators of such a scheme. Who is not with us, he is against us ...

And even if tomorrow there is an incomprehensible switchman on whom this murder will be hanged, there will be no faith that he is the criminal. The eyes of constant lies of the inquiry officers, investigators and judges ...
