“Interstellar”: the main film success or the main disappointment

The world premiere of the last picture of Christopher Nolan "Interstellar", one of the most anticipated this year, took place on November 5th. In Russia, "Space Odyssey" was shown on the 6th. The film here caused completely opposite assessments of the assessment from both critics and viewers.

Many agree that the film is visually impressive, Matthew McConaughey is beyond praise, Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is mesmerizing, and scientific vocabulary - as well as the "space" theme itself - has a beneficial effect on the thought process of viewers. There are also opponents who point out shortcomings in the plot (a frequent complaint about Nolan's films), excessive pathos and emotional intensity, as well as excessive scientism.

Interstellar, with a budget of $165 million, was considered an Oscar contender long before its release. Perhaps because of the recent success of Gravity, Alfonso Cuarón's painting came out in 2013 and won seven Academy Awards. Now, critics, having meticulously studied almost three hours of Nolan's statement, are in no hurry to write him down as a contender for the main US film award. Interstellar didn't live up to expectations from the box office: although it leads the world box office for the first weekend (132.25 million dollars), in North America (52 million), the film lost the first line to the Disney cartoon City of Heroes.
