The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Great Britain urged to reform the norms and rules of the EU, interfering with London

Against the backdrop of a discussion of the possible exit of Great Britain from the European Union, its opinion on the order of the country adopted in the EU, the British Minister of the Interior Teresa May expressed. In his column on the website of the newspaper The Telegraph, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed the conviction that the EU norms and rules must be reformed so that they correspond to the national interests of London. In this case, according to May, the United Kingdom will be ready to remain as part of the European Union.

While access to the largest single market in the world is in the interests of Great Britain, the norms and rules of the EU inhibit not only the development of the British economy, but also the economy of any other country - a member of the Union. “That's why we must advance for changes that the EU will make more competitive, more interested in maintaining contacts with other countries and more open for world trade,” the minister said.

According to May, politicians who argue that Great Britain is better to stay in the EU, regardless of conditions, are wrong. However, the minister emphasized, she also does not consider politicians to be right, who claim to leave the EU anyway. Because if London can make the EU work in the direction of a more flexible union of sovereign member states that use agreements to engage in free trade and cooperate in the fight against crime and terrorism, of course, in the national interests of the UK will remain in the European Union.

For this reason, the British government last summer officially notified the European commission of the desire of London to abandon more than 130 pan -European norms on cooperation in the field of protection of law and law and order. Measures are registered in the Lisbon Treaty signed by EU members in December 2007. It also provides a procedure for refusing a number of norms with subsequent attachment to part of them.

The Great Britain government announced the intention to 35 of denunciative measures later to join the new conditions later. We are talking about practical measures, including the use of a single EU base for previously convicted people, which allows you to deport foreign criminals and prevent their entry into British territory. In addition, London will continue to use financial intelligence data, which allow you to suppress attempts to launder the money of terrorists and criminals, as well as a system that allows you to extradite foreign criminals from British prisons to their homeland.

May announced the intention to preserve among these measures the European arrest warrant, but its conditions will become different. Earlier, the minister reported that the British law will be changed to strengthen the protection of people whose issuance is required by European countries. The arrest warrant - and 34 other measures - the British government proposes to accept again in order to protect the country from dangerous criminals and terrorists. The minister is unhappy with the current conditions of the European order for arrest, since he gives foreign prosecutors the opportunity to influence the work of British courts.

According to Teresa May, if London wants to stop foreign criminals from entering Britain, suppress the spread of terrorism by immigrants from the EU returning from Syria, prevent the British criminals to evade punishment abroad, to identify foreigners hiding from justice, to extradite the British from foreign prison - these measures are vital.

In addition, May in her article announced the need to discuss the reform of migration legislation and the free movement of EU citizens in the framework of a single space. As the German weekly Spiegel said with reference to sources in the department of the Federal Chancellor of Germany and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angel Merkel did not exclude for the first time that the UK could leave the EU due to London’s desire to change the norm about the freedom of labor movement within the EU.

According to the publication, during a meeting with the British Prime Minister David Cameron at the last EU summit, the German Chancellor made it clear that if the head of the government continues to insist on such migration policy, then a “non -return point” will be reached in the relationship of London and Brussels. The German publication indicated that such a policy of Cameron is a clear violation of the EU agreement on freedom of movement.

Cameron pursues a consistent policy of the need to introduce measures to monitor migration within the EU. He insists on the need to change British laws in such a way that migrants cannot receive social benefits in two countries at once. Great Britain also considers the issue of introducing quotas for migrants - EU citizens and limiting their rights.

At the same time, a survey conducted by the British service of the public opinion of YouGov indicates that in the case of a referendum on this issue, 47% of the residents of the United Kingdom would vote for a department from the EU and 37% against. In Wales and in the Midlands region in Central England, about half of the respondents announced their readiness for separation from the EU.
