In Mariinka, they will perform a forgotten Soviet opera

The Libretto of the Outtel is based on the novel of the English writer Ethel Lilian Voinich, which she wrote at the end of the 19th century under the impression of communication with Russian writer Sergei Stepnyak-Kravchinsky, as well as from the biographies of Italian patriots Giuseppe Garibaldi and Giuseppe Madzini.

The opera was first delivered in 1957 at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, after which it entered the repertoire of opera theaters of Kharkov, Riga, Chelyabinsk, Kuibyshev, and was placed in Czechoslovakia.

Now the name of the graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, the author of music for the famous film "Cinderella" of 1947, is almost forgotten. Antonio Emmanuilovich spadacia (1907, Odessa - 1988, Moscow) composed five operas, two ballets, orchestral and chamber works, romances, music to more than twenty films. Interest in the revolutionary theme, was determined by the personal biography of the Spadacia - the composer’s grandfather fought for the freedom of Italy in the ranks of the Garibaldians, fled the country and a donkey in Odessa.
