Three paintings were released almost simultaneously on our screens, which, most likely, will apply for Oscars

The list of nominees will be published only on January 15, but the game has already begun in America. And experience shows that they are often justified. Three presidential films that will be discussed-the detective “The disappeared” master David Fincher, the military drama of the less eminent David Eyra “Yarost” and “Interstellar”, the cosmic parable of another master-Christopher Nolan.

David Fincher and Antifeminism

Thrillers and detectives rarely receive Oscars. But the Fincher, in the author’s luggage of which “seven”, “game”, “fighting club”, “zodiac”, is a director with one of the highest reputations in the movie world. In addition, two of his recent paintings already became Oscar hits - however, it was precisely those in which he changed his beloved thriller's genre: the philosophical “mysterious story of Benjamin Batton” and the actual “social network” - about how Facebook arose.

The Oscar chances of the “disappeared”, shot by the bestseller Gillian Flynn, by the way, increases, by the way, that this is not only a filigree detective about an ideal crime (ideal - that which cannot be disclosed), but also a smart psychological drama. Moreover, removed, which is also important for Oscars, without show -offs, in the classic Hollywood style. Powerful traditional cinema. There are almost no scenes on the nerves. At the same time, do not break away from the screen for two and a half hours - because the number of riddles goes off scale.

The plot is that a wife disappeared from a prosperous house - a young, beautiful and very famous woman in America. There is a suspicion that she was killed. Everything indicates that the husband killed. Ben Affleck plays it. Her is a fashionable Rosamund Pike. It is impossible to write a full -fledged review of this film, because you will immediately give out the plot.

The “disappeared” is remarkable in that it marks the end of the era of frenzied political correctness, which gave rise to a special kind of terror, directed primarily against male individuals with white skin color. Actually, the era of political correctness ended after the attack on the twin tower. Political correctness is the ideology of a prosperous society that has no other worries, except to constantly improve itself. The ideology is unconditionally correct, but like any ideology prone to hysteria and too much. In the world, encountered with terrorism and the threat of new global wars, political correctness, of course, ceased to be a topic of No. 1. Nevertheless, and in the 2000s it was impossible to make a film in which four of the six main female characters are very bad. However, it will be an excess to name the “disappeared” anti -Feminist attack. They are bad because the plot requires that. But the fact is important: in America you can now make a picture where women are worse than men. And the director is a man! - They do not beat for this with stones, but, on the contrary, praise. And even the Oscars prophesy him.

Christopher Nolan and black holes

Fiction, like thrillers, is rarely encouraged by American film academics. But here again a special case. Firstly, the last time the film about space-“Gravity”-became one of the main Oscar triumphs, so the path is beaten. Secondly, the film "Interstellar" was made by 44-year-old Englishman Christopher Nolan. And now everything is allowed to him in Hollywood (after he built four superchites, equally enthusiastically accepted by both the public and criticism, three new “Batmen” and “Beginning”, which at the same time achieved Oscar’s recognition).

Actually, they would not have allowed anyone else to make Interstellar: a film with a crazy budget, which at the same time lasts almost three hours (but the film business has already reconciled with the fact that Nolan is shooting long), contains little action, but is full of foggy philosophy.

The point is that the earth is dying. Terrible dusty storms began, wheat finally disappeared seven years ago, now the turn was for other agricultural cultures. All armies were dissolved, expensive technologies are deliberately destroyed (there is no more mobile connection or, say, tomographs in medical institutions), since all forces and funds go to the creation and preservation of at least some kind of crop. Ordinary children are not allowed to go to universities - everyone must become farmers. In such a situation, NASA (it has been officially not officially not, because the people would be indignant that the government dares to spend money on spotlights that do not bring momentary benefits) launches ten ships in search of planets where it could be moved. Someone helps us: a spatial hole appeared near Saturn, through which you can get into other galaxies. So only business - in two years to fly to Saturn - and to the hole. The crews were sent ten years ago, three of them seemed to have found some kind of suitable planets. A new ship led by the captain, who is played by Matthew McConahi, is sent for the inspection - if anyone does not know, this actor, who seemed ordinary Hollywood, suddenly turned into an authentic talent - see the film “Dallas Club of Buyers”, for which he was awarded Oscars, or an incredible “real detective” miniser.

Further does not describe on a hundred pages. Moreover, not to explain. There, such spatio-temporal paradoxes begin! But the film is pleasant not only by the fact that it can be compared with the best cosmic film fiction - with Solaris, say. It’s just that this is the first example of romantic film fiction for many years, reminiscent of the “close contacts of the third degree” of Spielberg or the Soviet science fiction of 1950-1970.

David Air and Military Games

But the Oscar's military dramas welcomes. David Air's “Fury” is an optimistic tragedy about the battles of heroic American tankers with the Nazis in April 1945. Unfortunately, she inherited both the advantages and disadvantages of typical Hollywood military dramas. On the one hand, the film gives a lot of interesting information. Suddenly, you realize that even by the end of the war, the Americans, strictly speaking, had no tanks. Sherman, of course, is a famous tank and played a role in World War II. But by the standards of 1945, against the backdrop of “Tigers”, “Panther”, T-34-85 and IS-2, this is not a tank, but a tachanka. Later, others later joined the ground battles of the 20th century and, judging by the film, misunderstood what role tanks should play. The Shermana with two open machine guns on the tower, from which it was necessary to shoot crawled out of the upper hatch, helped the infantry well, but were not intended for breakthroughs of defense and frontal tank battles. In the film there is a hard stroke episode: “Tiger” rises three “Sherman” in three shots. Someone wrote with us that this is, they say, Hollywood. Nothing of the kind. One “tiger” could split the “Shermanov” column.

On the other hand, every military drama will certainly turn into a military adventure in American cinema at some point, that is, the same Hollywood. The selection of the crew of the heroic tank itself is already standard: one is experienced, one is simple and rough, one is a believer, one is a Mexican, and one is a salabon. Above the main battle that they are conducting against the column of the SS men, you can scann. It is most impressive that after the vile Nazis, in order to finish off dent Americans, they throw two grenades into the tank, the only surviving hero, returning to the tank (at the time of the grenade explosion he managed to slip away), discovering not bloody porridge on the walls, but the neatly intact bodies of the dead comrades in noble poses. It is also funny that if, according to Mikhalkov, only Orthodox, “Tired of the Sun-2” in the war, then in accordance with the Hollywood tradition (which is certainly observed in horror films) only virgins survive.

In short, “four tankers and a dog” are more interesting and true. But we will not forget that the film “Save Private Ryan” already mentioned Spielberg, where there are also a lot of military adventures, received five Oscars, including the award for the best directing. Air, of course, is not Spielberg. But you never know.
