On November 11, Microsoft officially unveiled the Lumia 535, the first Windows Phone smartphone under its own brand. Microsoft reported this on its official website .
The Lumia 535 is a budget smartphone that Microsoft plans to attract people to buy with a special 5x5x5 offer, which indicates three digits five in the device's characteristics. It has a five-inch IPS qHD display with a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels, two cameras, both five megapixels (front and rear) and five integrated services: Skype, Office, Cortana, OneDrive and OneNote.
The smartphone is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor operating at 1.2 gigahertz, one gigabyte of RAM, and eight gigabytes of flash storage expandable with microSD cards up to 128 gigabytes.
According to Microsoft, the Lumia 535's 1,905 milliamp-hour battery will last for 11 hours of continuous talking on 2G networks and up to 8.5 hours of web surfing via Wi-Fi. The operating system of the smartphone is the latest version of Windows Phone - 8.1 with the Lumia Denim update.
The body of the smartphone is made of plastic and comes in one of the following colors: orange, black, grey, green, white or light blue. The dimensions are 140.2 by 72.4 by 8.8 millimeters with a weight of 146 grams. A version with one or two SIM cards will be available.
The price of a device with one SIM card will be $130 without a contract. Sales of the smartphone should begin in November in Asian markets, after which the Lumia 535 will hit the shelves in Russia.
As The Verge notes , Microsoft has entered into a number of contracts with manufacturers of cheap components, which will help keep the brand in its segment of budget smartphones. The publication also noted that Microsoft has made a big step towards quality in terms of technical characteristics, focusing on increasing the amount of RAM and increasing the resolution of cameras.
According to TechCrunch , the company plans to capture the segment of cheap smartphones, while offering its services like OneNote, which will force buyers to stay with the Lumia brand further.
Engadget also noted that Microsoft has no plans to launch a budget smartphone in the US, focusing only on emerging market countries.
On April 25, Microsoft announced the completion of the purchase of Nokia's mobile division for $7.5 billion, but only in September the corporation decided to abandon the Nokia logo on its devices. Not only smartphones, but also all applications developed by Nokia were rebranded. In recent weeks, Microsoft has rebranded Nokia's core apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace as Lumia apps.
