Analysts of the 2GIS mapping service compiled a rating of Russian cities by the number of fitness centers located in them. This was reported in a company press release received by TJournal on November 11.

Representatives of 2GIS analyzed the number of operating fitness clubs in cities across the country with a population of more than one million people. In total, about two thousand sports centers were studied.
Based on the data obtained, two charts were compiled: the top 15 cities with the largest number of places for fitness and the top 15 settlements, sorted by the average cost of a monthly sports subscription.
The first rating with 580 and 302 fitness centers, respectively, was headed by Moscow and St. Petersburg. Yekaterinburg took third place, where 2GIS employees counted 189 clubs. Novosibirsk was behind him by 14 points.
In addition to the listed cities, the top also included Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Samara, Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd and Ufa. Voronezh closed the chart, where map service analysts found only 47 fitness rooms.
The second rating - in terms of the cost of a subscription - is also topped by Moscow. A subscription to a fitness center in the capital costs on average 4.5 thousand rubles per month. Second and third places were taken by Yekaterinburg (3,380 rubles for 30 days of classes) and St. Petersburg (3,060 rubles).
In most other cities, the price of a subscription ranges from 2.1 thousand (Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod) to 2.5 thousand rubles (Rostov-on-Don, Chelyabinsk). The cheapest place to play sports is in clubs in Volgograd, Omsk and Ufa. Residents of these cities pay about 1.7-1.8 thousand rubles for a monthly subscription.
Separately, 2GIS studied the prevalence of 24-hour fitness clubs in Russia. The first line of the rating here also goes to Moscow, where about 13 percent of all such establishments operate 24 hours a day.
The traditional leaders of other tops, Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg, were only in fifth and 12th places on this list. In the northern capital, for example, there are only 1.3 percent of 24-hour centers. Instead, the second and third positions in the ranking were taken by Novosibirsk (7.1 percent of 24-hour fitness rooms) and Volgograd (6.9 percent).
The company 2GIS, specializing in the development of mapping services, was founded in 1999. The company's main office is located in Novosibirsk. According to Forbes , 2GIS is one of the 10 largest Internet companies in Russia, and more than 20 million people use the programs and applications it creates.
