Valery Sentorov died

On Wednesday, November 12, in Moscow, at the age of 69, a dissident, mathematician, teacher, publicist, human rights activist, former political prisoner Valery Sentorov died.

Valeria Anatolyevich Sentorov was born in 1945 in Moscow, in 1962-1968 he studied at the Moscow Physics and Technology Institute, from which he was excluded before the protection and dissemination of philosophical literature. He graduated from the institute in 1970, was excluded from the graduate school of MOPI for the work "Nietzsche Philosophy". In the 1970s he gave lectures and conducted seminars in higher mathematics in the 2nd mathematical school in Moscow.

Since the late 1970s, he has actively participated in the activities of the People’s Labor Union of Russian solidarists (NTS) and the International Human Rights Society.

He was arrested in 1982 and sentenced to seven years in maximum security camps with subsequent reference to 5 years on charges of anti -Soviet propaganda and agitation. He was ahead of schedule in March 1987.

By 1988, Valery Sentorov, together with Rostislav Evdokimov, actually became the head of the entire organization of the NTS in Russia. During the years of perestroika, Sentorov took an active part in the creation of the Russian Christian democratic movement.

The author of many articles in the magazines “Questions of Philosophy”, “New World”, the newspaper “Russian Thought”, a number of collections, as well as several articles in mathematics, functional analysis.
