Russian political scientist, general director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, was expelled from Latvia, TASS reports . He was included in the Minister of Internal Affairs Richards Kozlovskis in the list of people who are prohibited from entering the country.

On Friday, Simonov flew to Riga at the invitation of the International Media Club "Format A3" to participate in a public discussion on the "gas wars. Is there an alternative?" He went through border control and managed to give several interviews, after which he went to dinner at the restaurant. There, representatives of the immigration service of the State Border Guard of Latvia approached Simonov and asked to present documents.

The political scientist was informed that it was decided to immediately expel him from Latvia as an undesirable element. Then he was taken to the hotel for things, and from there to the airport.

Simonov intends to challenge in court the decision of the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs on introducing him on the black list. According to him, he wants to understand how in a few hours he managed to become an "undesirable element."

In July, the Latvian Foreign Ministry was on the list of persons who are prohibited from entering the country , the names of Joseph Kobzon, Oleg Gazmanov and Alla Perfilova, known under the stage pseudonym Valeria. This decision was due to the fact that the artists justified the annexation of Crimea "in aggressive form."
