Mana Island. "Stare"

Moscow Indie Group Mana Island is just preparing to release the debut album, but already collected a lot of advances and compliments - they performed with Foals , had just received the “16 tons” club “Golden Gorguli” in the “Breakthrough of the Year” nomination: Sergey “Spider” Trinity personally handed it to them.

Now Mana Island represents a playful video for the song “Stare”, selected by the first single in support of the album, which is written at the Xuman Records studio and will be released in the spring of 2015.

The vocalist Alexei Doronin answers

- Where did the Mana group come from Island ?

- I met the guys two years ago. They survived the last days of pop tanks and turned into indie rockers. That's on this broken I came to the first rehearsal. We worked, although MacBuk stood behind the guys, and I never sang on stage. Invented two words - mana Island . Man as a source of magical power and island as an illusion of escape. And it turns out such an island from Lost , on which John Lock can be in both living and in dead state at the same time. And even later, we recorded our first single " Beauty Spot " . When he scattered throughout all H & M ' AM Europe, it became clear that this business cannot be thrown.

- What is the new song about?

- “ Stare ” is a lightweight and even slightly frivolous song. This is such a collection of images in which, as in most of our songs, all words are devoted to the very one. As a girl from the film "The Service" said: " You IS Kind , You IS Smart , you IS Important ” (grammar preserved) is all about her.

- What about the video?

- “ Stare ” , in essence, means “eyes”. Well, there is something to stare at and what to admire. We got a very beautiful fantasy on the theme of the Soviet Riviera of the beginning of the seventies. For this, we chose Yalta. Sometimes dilapidated and forgotten, and sometimes capable of amazing. We wanted everything to look like if the video for Classixx was shot by Leonid Gaidai. We even picked up the images of Gaidaevsky: such dudes in the image and likeness of Gesha from the "diamond hand". But in the end, we got Wes Anderson for the Glass Little Group. However, this has its own charm and share of humor.

- At the presentation of the Golden Gorguli Prize, the spider, handing you the prize, said that all the doors are open in front of you - "wherever you want, break and break." Where are you going to break further?

- Following the spider and suggested breaking to him to the presentation of the book in the torture museum: he promised naked dwarfs, for example. But seriously, even in Moscow there are still so many places we have not broken. And in Russia-and it is scary to imagine.

- What the Mana group has Island will be next?

- Very soon, we will have several very important concerts for us - on November 29, we break out of the studio for our last solo concert in Artefaq this year, and then in December we will arrange several more cool parties, which we still mysteriously engulf. But what is especially important - this is our first album, we abandoned all our strength to work on it. He will come out at the beginning of next year, and it seems to me that from there, my grandchildren will remember us from there.
