Portrait of Serov’s work was sold at the Christiegn auction for a record 9.3 million pounds

“Portrait of Maria Cetlin” Valentina Serova’s brushes left the hammer at Christiegn in London for 9.266 million pounds and became the most expensive work sold at the auction by Russian art.

Before the auction began for the picture, it was hoped to help out 1.5 - 2.5 million pounds. The name of the buyer of the portrait is not revealed by tradition.

Among other top-lots of the auction, which was on November 24, there was a “portrait of Alexander Tikhonov” by the brush Yuri Annenkov. The painting was sold for 4 million pounds - within the boundaries of the eastyite set at the level of 2.5 - 4.5 million.

In total, about 400 lots were exhibited for the “Russian auction” Christiegn.

• The portrait of Maria Ketlin, written in 1910, was put up for auction by the mayor of the Israeli city of Ramat Gan. Maria Cetlin handed over the picture in 1959. The portrait was put up for the trading since the creation of it. Funds that are proceeds from the sale of the picture of Serov will be transferred to the Ramat Gan Museum.
• The portrait of the writer Alexander Tikhonov was written by Yuri Annenkov in 1922. The picture was selected for the XIV Venice International Biennale of 1924 along with portraits of Leo Trotsky and the historian and journalist Vyacheslav Polonsky. Fright was stored by the daughter of Tikhonov, who died in 1995. The owner of the picture, which put her at Christiegn’s auction, wished to keep his name secret. The name of the buyer of this lot is also not disclosed.
