"Memorial" was visited by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe

The Secretary of General of the Council of Europe Turbjern Jagland, who arrived in Russia, visited Thursday in the Moscow office of the International Memorial organization.

According to Jagund, it was a "visit of support and solidarity." The head of the Council of Europe is worried that the organization may be closed in the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice, which the Supreme Court of Russia will continue to be considered on December 17.

Jagland said he came to Moscow with the hope of "resolving the problem."

At a meeting with members of the board of the organization, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe called the "memorial" an outstanding organization and emphasized that there should never be any repressive laws that impede the work of public organizations.
