Today, the inimitable Nicolas Sarkozy has become president. party Let not France, but the UMP1 , and even if only 268 thousand people could vote in the party (of which 155 thousand voted), but this is a victory.
Peace-loving Nicolas, who was first offended in the presidential elections in May 2012, and then humiliated by wiretaps and interrogations, took the first step towards revenge.
Sarkozy has already been elected president of his party once, it was ten years ago, and then he won triumphantly, gaining 85% of the vote. That victory helped him win the Elysee Palace. The current one, according to his idea, will allow doing the same.
There are, however, three differences between the two victories.
1) Ten years ago, Sarkozy was the undisputed leader of his party and the undisputed candidate for the presidency of France. Now there are many more applications for the presidency, and the elections to the UMP were won from rivals (see the Novaya ) with a much more modest result - 64.5%.
2) Ten years ago, the French could not have known what kind of president Sarkozy would be. And today about 2/3 do not want his return.
3) In 2004, he was not yet a member of the chain of criminal cases , and today they are reaching for him like tin cans for a street cat.
And yet, even such a victory is good. After all, if Sarkozy somehow gets out of all these criminal stories, he can hope for a miracle in 2017. We wish him good luck, but in addition to it, he again needs a party.
He wants status. Because “suspect” is a bad status even for a former president.
And now he is the most important right. There is a reason to flicker on the screens - and not only in connection with the next interrogation. There is a tribune from which one can carry sarco-facts incriminating enemies.
Sarko-facts may not correspond to the reality imagined by the rest, and our hero is caught on this several times a night, but so much the worse for reality. And so much the worse for others.
“On Women’s Day, leftists put skirts on children. It's a gender theory,” Sarkozy rages at a campaign rally. It doesn't matter that the leftists have nothing to do with this lyceum action . It does not matter that the action is directed against violence and discrimination against women. It doesn't matter that it took place not on "Women's Day", as Sarkozy thinks, but on May 16th.
“I remember that miserable performance /that they staged/ when we created a database of genomic fingerprinting, which made it possible for every second “sex” criminal to be arrested today,” says Sarkozy, and forgets that this database was not created by him , and not during his presidency, but in 1998, according to Liberation.
With statistics, the former president also messed up.
The socialist government "cut the cultural budget by 30%," Sarkozy says, and it's not clear where he gets the numbers from. In 2013-2014 the budget decreased by 6%, and for the next three years should remain at the current level.
The Socialists raised taxes by 30 billion euros, "which has never happened in the history of the French Republic," says Sarko, and forgets that he did the same thing for the same amount.
“It's a shame,” our hero characterizes the accusations brought against him in the “case of the Bigmalion PR agency.” Shame is not the actions of Sarkozy, but the impudence of the investigation. The investigation has suspicions that Sarkozy knew that the limit of financing the presidential campaign was exceeded, and that for the sake of secrecy, these expenses were paid into other operations. Two of Sarkozy's employees arrested in connection with the case confirmed that he was aware. Another colleague - Jean-Francois Cope, this case cost the post of head of the UMP party.
Thus, the man who tried for Sarkozy was forced to leave the warm leading position in the party. Which Sarkozy was now able to take.
However, Sarkozy himself nominated J.-F.-Copé to this post in order to keep the “traitor” François Fillon (whom he had once appointed as his prime minister) at the helm of the party. Those elections ended with the first high-profile intra-party strife (and Fillon and Cope declared themselves the winners) ... This was the first scandal, and after that there were so many scandals in the party collective that now it is simply indecent to join it.
So Sarkozy's desire to "rebuild the party from top to bottom" and change its name is quite understandable.
It is not clear the desire of the party activists to choose the leader of the person who, in fact, caused her the greatest reputational damage. And financial. 11 million euros, which Sarkozy had to return to the state for fraud during the presidential elections in 2012, Nicolas shifted to the shoulders of the fans. They staged the action "Sarkofon", fans sent paid SMS to a special number, the guru was saved.
However, fans themselves have the right to decide where to throw their money. Especially since the party, according to its founder Alain Juppe (a longtime opponent of Sarkozy), is slowly "turning into a sect."
Maybe that's why the "sect" swallows the fantasies of its leader.
"I became a candidate /.../ to make a big right-wing Republican party," Sarkozy said at a major rally on November 7 at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris. Four thousand supporters gathered: the VIP-half was reliably fenced off by a barrier from the best representatives of the party. For a whole hour, the leader carried to the far half of the hall sophistical arguments about how his newly acquired “republican values” differ from the so-called. "democratic".
Republican, Sarkofon broadcast, although they include democratic ones, they are incomparably higher.
To the delight of the farther half of the audience, Nicolas Paul Stéphane Sárközy de Nagy-Bócsa_,_son of a Hungarian migrant, included ultra-right values (including the fight against migration) among republican values. However, values and principles are significant for the resurrected leader of a dying party as much as they allow him to get closer to the goal.
Candidate Sarkozy called "reconciliation of his political family" one of the main goals. And, I must admit, I did a lot for this.
On November 22, in Bordeaux, Sarko's fans booed the speech of Alain Juppe, the mayor of this city, Chirac's accomplice and just an elderly man who recently announced his desire to become President of France.
Juppe is popular in Bordeaux, so whistlers were brought from other regions of France.
While the respected "family member" was being booed, Sarkozy was reclining on a chair, crossing his legs, and did not hear anything. It is likely that this was the case: mockery of the enemy could plunge the leader of the right into political nirvana.
When Juppé finished, Sarkozy went to the podium and reassured the submissive audience: "For our political family, a person with the qualities of Juppé is a trump card, not a problem." The crowd calmed down. The "problem" is gone. The action went well.
And about his current main opponent in the election of the head of the UMP, Sarkozy said: "He has the charisma of an oyster." Such are the rumors.
"Oyster" is Bruno Le Maire. A young, handsome, brilliantly educated native of a bourgeois family. Maybe an "oyster", I can't say for sure.
But great hopes are pinned on this "oyster" in the Right camp. Another part of the camp hopes for the wise Juppe. A small part - on the traitor Fillon.
Sarkozy is mainly hoped for by those who have nothing else to hope for. There are too many.
They can be understood too.
After all, what a scoundrel!
"Recaptured" his wife from Jacques Chirac himself.
But Chirac did so much for him. And what is the answer?
Bernadette Chirac goes to Sarkozy's rallies and quarrels with her husband, who cannot stand him.
But - you can, you can not, but be patient. Along with millions of other French citizens.
Or enjoy. Like Bernadette Chirac.
