The sixth month is reduced by the ruble revenue of Russian cinemas. The fall of the national currency in combination with the growth of rent in shopping centers made a fifth of cinemas unprofitable.
This was reported by RBC with reference to representatives of Russian filming.
According to the RENTRAK Corporation filmborne meter, in the II and III quarters of 2014, the traffic of cinemas, compared to last year’s indicators, decreased slightly, and in October, the first month of the IV quarter, the fall in the sold tickets was 8%, and in revenue - 14%.
The owner of the Kinomax cinema network, Boris Asriev, said that ruble revenue has been falling for the last six months, while most of the investments and costs for rent and operation pays for his network in dollars.
“People try to invest in technology and clothes, if we raise prices, then even this last outlet in the form of going to the cinemas will become inaccessible to them,” says Igor Dobrovolsky, the owner of the Luxor network. “The last time we observed such chaos, it seems, in 1991, when on Friday the dollar cost 6 rubles, and on Monday - 120 Rubktq, we bought the first film then.”
“We are an import -dependent country, all equipment from there, calculations go in currency. Russian films were contributed to their contribution, they occupy almost 50%in screen time, and the revenue give a funny one - the halls are half empty, ”comments the analyst of the Filmz.ru portal Sergey Lavrov.
