Bashneft became state property
The Federal Property Management Agency gained control over the shares of Bashneft, which previously belonged to AFK Sistema. This information was officially confirmed by the department. According to an Interfax source, earlier the arrest was removed from the papers.
The transfer of shares to the account of the Federal Property Management Agency took place on Tuesday, December 9, the agency's sources said.
- On October 30, 2014, the Moscow Arbitration Court decided that AFK Sistema should return the Bashneft shares owned by the state. The company did not appeal this decision. According to the court decision, the privatization of Bashneft turned out to be illegal.
- In mid-September, the owner of AFK Sistema, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, was placed under house arrest. He is accused of involvement in the illegal privatization of Bashneft. AFK Sistema insists that the company was a bona fide buyer and bought the shares at a price higher than the market price.
