The best book is a constitution

The writer Viktor Shenderovich refused to give explanations in the TFR as part of a pre -investigation verification of the public project "Book in the Parks". He reported this in his note in the "Daily Journal". In support of the refusal, the writer referred to Article 51 of the Constitution.

“I added to the formal formulation in the protocol for clarity that my refusal is connected with the obvious political nature of the case for me,” said Shenderovich. The survey was conducted by a senior investigator for particularly important cases under the chairman of the TFR Sergey Stepanov.

As can be concluded from a note, Shenderovich went to the Investigative Committee without a lawyer. Nevertheless, before the survey, he received a consultation with the publicist Alexander Podrabink, the former Soviet Politzek.

Also on Wednesday, on a survey about the project "Books in the Parks", TV presenter Mikhail Shatz visited. Whether he refused the explanations, Shenderovich did not specify. Shatz himself, however, wrote on his Facebook page that he spent an hour and a half in the investigator’s office.

Meanwhile, the writer Boris Akunin, who is now abroad, said that on Tuesday, some people who represented the employees of the Investigative Committee came to him several times and asked the concierge about his whereabouts. “I’m - here he is,” Akunin remarked in this regard. “If something was needed from me, call, write.”

On the eve of the TFR, the poet and essayist Lev Rubinstein visited the survey. He, like on Wednesday, Shenderovich, refused to explain, citing Article 51 of the Constitution. The poet was accompanied by lawyer Vadim Prokhorov.

"Books in the Parks" is a public project that sets the task of reviving an interest in reading. The festival is held annually in six Moscow parks, where bookstores, reading rooms and club living rooms work for three months. The event is organized by the company "Bureau 17", owned by Alexandrina Markvo, the civil wife of the executive director of the corruption Fund Vladimir Ashurkov.

Ashurkov is on the federal wanted list; He is charged with the theft of funds transferred to the campaign of Alexei Navalny in the elections of the Moscow Mayor in 2013. In early October, Ashurkov asked for political trial in the UK.
