General Staff: The West is trying to weaken the nuclear potential of Russia

Western countries are taking a number of measures aimed at reducing the military-economic potential of Russia. This was stated by the chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov at a meeting with the military attache of a number of countries, TASS reports .

“We evaluate the military-political situation today as unstable,” Gerasimov said. “Attempts of pressure on our country are conducted in all vital areas. At the same time, the main efforts are aimed at reducing the country's military-economic potential, slowing down scientific, technical and technological development in strategically important areas.”

“Efforts are being made to implement specific measures aimed at weakening the stroke potential of the Russian strategic nuclear forces,” the general emphasized. “One of the main methods of such counteraction has been chosen by the expansion of the combat capabilities of the American Global PRO Global System.”

The unwinding of the thesis about "hostile Russia" against the backdrop of events in Ukraine allowed NATO to create political prerequisites for the further advance of its military infrastructure to the borders of Russia, Gerasimov said.

"At present, in the Poland, in the Baltic, in the water area of ​​the Black and Baltic Seas, the land, aviation and marine groups of the alliance is being built up. The conduct of military exercises and training of NATO forces under the far -fetched legends" reflecting threats from the East has been intensified, "said the head of the General Staff.

On December 1, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference before a meeting of foreign ministers of the Alliance member countries said that NATO did not give and did not intend to guarantee non-profit in the Alliance of Ukraine and Georgia .

“We are talking about the sovereign right of each country to choose its military alliances,” Stoltenberg emphasized. “My main signal, we intend to respect the decisions of the Ukrainian people on this issue.” The Secretary General noted that not a single country "has the right to veto" to decide on the expansion of the alliance.

"Russia's aggressive actions undermine Euro -Atlantic security. Despite the continuation of the peaceful settlement attempts, we are observing a significant increase in the military presence on and around Ukraine, a large -scale transfer to the separatists of Russian modern weapons and the transfer of military personnel. A significant increase in Russian military activity around Europe and beyond," Stoltenberg said.

In addition, Stoltenberg expressed support for sanctions imposed against Russia.

Nevertheless, both Russia and NATO are objectively interested in mutual cooperation, Stoltenberg emphasized. The condition for its resumption of the Alliance’s Secretary General called Russia's return to compliance with international law and security systems in Europe.
