The adoption of a compromise decision ended in the capital of Lima, the UN Climate Protection Conference. Representatives of 195 countries who participated in her work agreed on Sunday night, December 14, the text of the final document on reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, DW reports with reference to AFP. “No one received everything that he wanted, but everyone received something,” they comment on a compromise decision in the UN.
The conference, which ended two days later than planned, was designed to develop the main directions of the new global climate agreement.
The compromise document came out vague. The document, numbering 37 pages, records the positions of delegations of individual countries, often radically different. According to experts, the document can only serve as the basis for further consultations.
The document considers a number of provisions that may enter the final agreement. It also indicates what actions each country can take to prevent global warming in the first half of 2015, RIA Novosti reports.
The decision on a new agreement is supposed to be made after discussing details at the UN climate summit in Paris, scheduled for December 2015.
According to Reuters , the intermediate agreement was approved by the session participants, despite the fact that suggested proposals about the need for more stringent measures to reduce the level of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
