Members of the Caucasus Emirate cell who stole a cow and robbed a postal van were convicted in Bashkiria

The founders and participants of the Caucasus Emirate cell in Bashkiria received from 10 to 13 years in a maximum security colony for robbery, banditry, theft and extremism. They carried out anti-Russian propaganda in the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Chelyabinsk region, and also stole a cow and robbed a postal van delivering pensions. The defendants in the case were charged under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of an extremist organization), part 1 of Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (banditry), part 4 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery), part 3 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition and carrying of firearms), Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft). As a result, the Supreme Court of Bashkiria found guilty 44-year-old Alfred Mukhametdinov, 28-year-old Ruslan Kurmangaleev, 31-year-old Artur Zagidullin, 29-year-old Marat Sharafutdinov and 25-year-old Denis Akhmetshin. According to the verdict, the cell “Imarat Kavkaz” (“Caucasian Emirate”) was created by its oldest member, Mukhametdinov. This happened in 2012 (since 2003, by decision of the Supreme Court, the Caucasus Emirate organization has been recognized as terrorist in Russia and its activities have been prohibited). “In the period from July to October 2012, accomplices carried out secret anti-Russian and anti-constitutional propaganda among the population of the Mechetlinsky and Uchalinsky districts, as well as in the Chelyabinsk region,” the press service of the Bashkortostan prosecutor’s office reported on Monday. In October 2012, members of the Imarat cell, armed with a carbine and hunting rifles, attacked a postal vehicle that usually delivered pensions to residents of the Karaidel region. They wounded the driver, causing serious harm to his health, and fled the crime scene with nothing: there was no money in the car. Also, members of the extremist group stole a cow from a 70-year-old pensioner and attacked an employee of the Kremenkul Sands LLC quarry, robbing him of more than 30 thousand rubles.
