Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin - about why the media should not delve into Sony: The New York Times

Excerpts from the correspondence of Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin, including racism, jokes about the beloved cinema of Barack Obama and negative reviews about the last films of Adam Sandler appeared on every corner.
In the end, the media nevertheless reacted to Sony from Sony seriously, but not because of the publication of personal data of the film company, the pseudonyms of the movie stars, which they use for security reasons and not because of threats from hackers. No, Sorkin writes, the indignation of journalists caused the information stolen by hackers about the salary of actress Jennifer Lawrence-she received less than her male colleagues.
Sorkin himself was also in a scandal as the author of the script for the film about Steve Jobs, to whom a significant part of the published correspondence is dedicated. In particular, it is said that the screenwriter advised to take Jobs Tom Cruise for the role of Jobs (this is true, Sormin admits) that Sormin is ruined (this is not so, he claims), and that he allegedly consists in a romantic relationship with the writer whose book was the basis of the script of the film about the creator of Apple (“Oh, if,” the screenwriter says). According to the screenwriter, this compromising evidence does not care at all, especially when compared with the much more serious facts that journalists published.
The media constantly encounter stolen data - this is how the world learned about how the Pentagon really fights in Iraq and Afghanistan. But in the "drain" of Sony there is nothing even closely comparable in public significance with the documents of the Pentagon, writes Sormin. In these archives there is not a word that Sony violates the law, misleads the public or harms its customers. Not a single line of the published materials has nothing that at least hints at any violations, there is nothing that would help to warn the public or protect anyone. It’s just that the media considered it “important for lighting”. But what could be important for lighting in notes about the new Cameron Crowe project is interested in Sormin.
