A new wave of Islamic terrorism covers the planet

Within two days, two terrorist acts occurred at different ends of the Earth. In Sydney, a certain emigrant from Iran captured two dozen people to the cafe. On the window of the building, the man hung a flag with inscriptions in Arabic. Some media suggested that this is a symbol of the Islamic State terrorist group. This man, presumably mental ill, was well known to the Australian authorities. In particular, he sent the threatening letters to relatives of military personnel who died in Afghanistan. As a result of the assault, a terrorist and two hostages died.

Almost at the same time of the Pakistani city of Peshavar, 132 children and nine teachers of a local school were killed as a result of a terrorist attack. The number of wounded, including hard, is also calculated by dozens. Armed militants, dressed in the uniform of the Pakistani military, drove up to the school in Peshavar on motorcycles and opened fire on guards. The terrorists drove the children into the building and began to shoot back from the police and the military arriving at the place of emergency. Responsibility for the terrorist attack took upon itself the movement "Technical-i-Taliban Pakistan." The representative of the Islamists called the attack a revenge for the operation against the Taliban, which the Pakistani army has been conducting since June in North Vaziristan. Most school students are children of military personnel.

The situation for the "Daily Journal" is commented by the professor of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexei Malashenko :

The attacks occur almost every day, not only in Afghanistan, but around the world. I just flew from Afghanistan, and even there they say that they don’t remember anything like that. We know what happened in Pakistan, and two days ago one person was killed and 14 was wounded during an attempt on a school in Kabul. And although someone says that this is the agony of Islamic extremism, I do not think that it is. Now the task of both the “Islamic state” and “al-cadets”-to show that they are capable of everything, do not refuse their goals and will continue terror. Moreover, the foci of extremism are now in different places: there is Syria and Iraq, there is Afghanistan, there is Pakistan. The interaction between radical Islamists is replaced by competition, although if it comes to the point that al-Keda declares the “special cruelty” of the “Islamic state”, then one can imagine their level.

Most likely, terrorist attacks will spread further, covering new territories, including Europe. In any case, one must be prepared for the fact that something will happen. The process has gone and will continue to go. In addition, we must be aware that even if tomorrow a military victory over the “Islamic state” in Syria and Iraq is reached, extremists will not go anywhere. They dissipate, go underground and continue the struggle. It is quite obvious that after the departure of the Americans from Afghanistan there will be a surge of extremism that we are already observing. And since the Taliban are connected with the Pakistanis, it will not seem little. In general, the year according to the Christian calendar ends in difficult conditions, and I do not see a barrier that can stand in the way of radical Islamists.

However, it must be understood that the phenomenon of Islamism is huge. There are moderate guys, for example, Turks, and radicals with whom you can still conduct a dialogue, and extremists. Today, the dialogue, in principle, is necessary, of course, not with extremists, but with moderate, and even with those who sometimes find themselves in radical positions. Even the composition of these movements is full of people who do not want cutting heads, the destruction of children, and so on. You can and should deal with them, because they can prevent terrorist attacks or, at least, contribute to a decrease in tension.

Islamism develops according to its own laws, and we know examples of how moderate Islamic dissidents gradually turned into radicals, and then into extremists. One recipe that allows this to avoid does not exist. But it is definitely a mistake that is the hope that we can win a power victory over Islamic extremism. A set of measures is required, which is talked about a lot, but which has not yet been implemented, and even in the case of creating some “ideal model”, years will be required for its embodiment.
