The European Tribunal decided to exclude Hamas from the list of terrorist organizations

The European Tribunal of the General Instance blocked the decision to extend Hamas in the list of terrorist organizations, Reuters reports. At the same time, the court supported the extension of the measure for three months or until the case is closed.

The court ruled that Hamas was included in the list not on the basis of the studied actions of the organization, but on the information received from the media. According to the Russian Today, the court decision on the exclusion of Hamas from the list is based not on the current activities of the organization, but on violations in the procedure for calculating terrorists in 2003. As noted, the temporary preservation of measures suggests that the organization’s funds will still be frozen.

The lawsuit against the inclusion of Hamas in the list of terrorist organizations in 2010 filed a leadership of the association that controls the gas sector. The organization insisted that Hamas is a legitimate government and could not be included in the list of terrorists. As indicated, the European authorities also allegedly did not notify Hamas that the decision to reckon the organization to terrorists entered into force.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after a court decision, called on the European Union authorities in the near future to introduce Hamas back to the list of terrorist organizations.
