
The Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria sentenced to all 57 defendants in the case of attacking the armed underground in the capital of the region Nalchik in October 2005. It is reported by the "Caucasian Knot". At a meeting on Tuesday, only the resolution of the document was announced.
Five of the defendants - Murat Bapinaev, Rasul Kudaev, Aslan Kuchmenov, Anzor Mashukov and Eduard Mironov - were sentenced to lifelong terms. The remaining 49 defendants received from 10 to 23 years of strict regime. At the same time, two of them were under the subscription about the lower room. As TASS clarifies , the defendants, depending on the role of the role, were found guilty under Articles 105 (murder), 205 (terrorist attack), 209 (banditry), 210 (organization of a criminal community), 279 (armed rebellion) and 317 Criminal Code (an encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer).
Most of the defendants refused to admit guilt. As journalist Julia Sugueva noted on Instagram, one of the defendants who received life sentence, - Mashukov, called the verdict a political order. The lawyers of the convicts said they would appeal the verdict.
The attack on Nalchik took place on October 13-14, 2005. As a result of the battles, 35 law enforcement officers and military, 15 civilians, as well as 95 participants in the Islamist armed underground, were killed.
The trial of the alleged participants in the attack lasted since 2008. Initially, there were 58 defendants in the case, but one - Muradin Kardanov - died of tuberculosis in 2010.

" Meanwhile, human rights activists said, for some of the surrenders, the accusations requested longer terms than for those who continued resistance. In addition, the "memorial" indicated that, in violation of the basic principles of law, none of the defendants was allowed to appeal to the jury.
