On December 18, VKontakte held its traditional New Year’s corporate party with the participation of teams from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kyiv, which turned from a holiday exclusively for employees into a festival with the participation of a large number of guests.
VKontakte press secretary Georgy Lobushkin told TJ how it went.

This year we continued to completely rethink the format of events dedicated to two key holidays - the company's birthday and New Year. If earlier these were quiet, calm evenings with an expanded composition, now these evenings have a meaningful entertainment program and there is no silence left at all. From the traditional one, one unshakable rule remains - there is no alcohol at holiday meetings of VKontakte employees. Not at all.
Many thanks to Evgenia Ostroumova , Alexander Potapov and Egor Druzhinin for the photographs.

The rethinking of the New Year's corporate party began with preparations for it, in which a large number of employees were already involved. This time the event itself took place not in the quiet Ginza restaurant, but in a large tent on Krestovsky Island in the amusement park.

The festival was called “There is contact.” The name itself, in addition to the fact that it contains a word with the same root as the company’s name, meant that for everyone it was a way to arrange live contact offline with colleagues. New Year is one of two reasons a year for members of the VKontakte team to gather from all the company’s offices in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kyiv.

The holiday began with welcoming speeches from the leadership. Andrei Rogozov, Boris Dobrodeev and Dmitry Sergeev spoke to the employees.

Throughout the evening, guests were entertained from the stage by the host and other artists. The guests danced to the performances of not very well-known but incendiary groups to the general public.

Other activities were available for those who did not like music and dancing. For example, you could play giant Jenga, draw with a 3D pen, or play board games.

In addition to just a photo for memory, you could immortalize yourself in a photo that would become part of the large VKontakte symbol in the form of a dog.

There was also entertainment for thrill-seekers.

For many employees, a New Year's party is not a reason to leave our users without attention. Therefore, there were those who continued to work fully during the holiday.

Traditionally, the main gastronomic hero of the evening was the cake. As usual, the greatest attention is focused on him.

The evening closed with a ceremonial fireworks display, during which those present used their mobile phones to form a large glowing VK logo.
